Saturn V Inter-Club Tumbling and Acrobatic Competition

Friday, June 26th, 2009

The first competition of 2009 was held on Sunday 22nd March for Saturn V Association member clubs who met at Oakwood Sports Centre, home of Springfit Gymnastics and Trampoline Club, for a Tumbling and Acrobatic competition.

This was the biggest turnout of proud friends and family the clubs have ever seen, seating over 90 people. The competition consisted of two disciplines, first being tumbling and then very well performed acrobatic performances.

There was success for many of the younger gymnasts who showed good control at the novice tumbling grades which preceded the older, more experienced gymnasts showing their new somersaulting skills at the more advanced Grade 7 level. Each gymnast performed to their best and wowed the spectators.

Judges were very impressed with the strength and flexibility the gymnasts showed in their well choreographed acrobatic pair and trio routines. Acrobatics is a discipline which uses no apparatus but only the strength and trust of each other to balance, performed to music with entertaining dance moves linking elements.

Pictured below are the Tumbling and acrobatic medal winners showing some of their acrobatic skills:
Megan Davies, Zoe Burcombe (Pointers), Lily Fairhall (Pointers), Emily Charman (Springfit), Holly French (Pointers), Emma French (Pointers), Abbie Clifton (Springfit), Amber Clifton (Springfit), Zara Coen (Pointers), Katherine Da-Silva-Skinner (Springfit), Chelsie Kilgannon (Springfit), Dominic Montgomery (Pointers), Carla Stoica (Pointers), Daisy Roadnight (Pointers), Alexandra Stoica (Pointers) and Rachna Patel (Springfit).
