Springfit Trampoline Competition Turns Up The Heat

Springfit hosted their first invitational trampoline competition on Saturday 26th June at Moor House School Sports Centre in Oxted.
On a scorching hot Saturday, children from various local recreational clubs came together to compete for medals in different age and ability categories.

Spectators watched some fantastic jumping displays from the balcony and showed their support for the very determined athletes. There were a few shocked gold medal winners who were delighted with the results in some very close to call categories. Many children were taking part in higher categories for the first time, and many regulars on the scene got their rewards for the training hours they put in to better their score from last time. Rosie Fuller from Pointers club in Caterham was one of these, who achieved Gold in the Advanced category with an outstanding somersaulting routine. There were also huge smiles for 7 year old Amber Jackson from Coulsdon-based Anti-Gravity club, who won an amazing double-gold for her synchronised pairs display and tidy grade 9 routine.

Every competitor showed determination on the apparatus, and enjoyed a fun and friendly atmosphere at the popular event. Many expressed their anticipation of the next competition no sooner than straight after the medal presentation!

Springfit Competitions Take Off

Local gym club Springfit held their first invitational gymnastics competition on Sunday 20th June.  The club invited other recreational athletes to their venue at Oakwood Sports Centre, Horley to display trampette jumps and perform beam routines.  Those deemed the best by a panel of judges were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals in a variety of categories based on age and training hours.

The competition is another step forward for the popular club who have just opened new branches in St Bedes, Redhill and Manorfield school, Horley, to much acclaim.
Spectators were impressed with the standard of ability on both apparatus, as nearly 100 proud parents enjoyed seeing children performing twisting somersaults and showing off technical beam moves.  Head judge Adam Reynolds said “the beam is a very difficult piece of equipment to perform on, and each gymnasts did fantastically well in front of the audience for their first time trying this.  They are all beaming!”

Local Tumbling and Acrobatic Gymnastics Competition

On Sunday 21st March, local Gym clubs Pointers and Springfit came together at de Stafford Sports Centre, for a Tumbling and Acrobatic competition.

There was a good turnout of friends and family to support the many gymnasts who has entered, and showed their appreciation as each child performed. The competition consisted of two disciplines, first being tumbling and then very well performed acrobatic performances. Acrobatics is a discipline which uses no apparatus but only the strength and trust of each other to balance, performed to music with entertaining dance moves linking elements.

There was success for many of the younger gymnasts who showed good control at the novice tumbling grades which preceded the older, more experienced gymnasts showing their new somersaulting skills at the more advanced Grade 8 level. Each gymnast performed to their best and wowed the spectators with their strength, control and agility.

Judges were very impressed with the steady progression of ability the gymnasts showed in their well choreographed acrobatic pair and trio routines.

Inter-Club Trampoline Competition Hits The Mark

Last Saturday 27th February saw children from clubs throughout the Surrey area come together to compete for medals at a trampoline competition held by the Saturn V Association.

Spectators on the balcony at Moor House school in Oxted showed their appreciation for the athletes as each child took their turn on the stage to perform routines to the best of their ability. Some of the eventual winners were taking part for the first time, and enjoyed a fantastic atmosphere as parents and family members cheered on the competitors.

There were seven separate categories encompassing all abilities, and culminated in a crowd-pleasing synchronised pairs routine. The gold medals in this category were taken home by members of Springfit Club
from Horley, adding to their three other Gold medals tally of the afternoon.

Members of Coulsdon-based Anti-Gravity trampoline club took home four medals as well as placing second and third in the synchronised round, and Pointers club in Caterham took away all the medals in the advanced
level group. The impressive somersaulting and tight form of the higher level athletes included a stunning performance by Abigail Barker (13yrs) who won top spot with an unprecedented score of 19.10
out of 20.

The judges were suitably impressed with the high standards on show, and offered their appreciation afterwards, thanking everyone involved, and conveying congratulations to all.

Local Gymnastics Competition impresses

Impressive gymnastic floor routines and vaults were performed last Sunday 8th November at Oakwood Sports Centre, Horley; home of Springfit Gymnastics and Trampoline Club. They competed against their sister club Pointers, in the last event of 2009, putting on a fun and very much improved show.

Friends and family were excited to see the polished progress that was made by each gymnast. Judge Sefra Crilly said “I was so excited by the high standards the gymnasts had shown, and how disciplined they were with their skills. I hope they all continue to strive and I hope to see them next time.”

Medals were awarded in three categories, under 9’s, 10 years plus, and a new category for those who train in the Elite classes.

Zara Flint impressed in the Under 9′s category, coming out on top with a score of 16.0. Lily Fairhall performed a very impressive vault to secure Gold in the over 10′s category, and in the highly competitive Elite section, Chelsie Kilgannon was pipped to the top spot by Amber Clifton, after she led with a near-perfect handspring vault.

All smiles at Inter-Club Trampoline Competition

On Saturday 7th November, children from throughout the Surrey area came together to take part in an inter-club competition held by the Saturn V Association.

The spectators balcony at Moor House school in Oxted was buzzing with excitement as many competitors enjoyed their first competition experience. With seven separate categories encompassing all abilities, there was plenty for the medal winners to smile about.
Springfit Club from Horley took all the placings at Grade 8 over 9’s category, and members of Coulsdon-based Anti-Gravity trampoline club took home two gold and two silver medals. Felicity Gibbs (18yrs) of Pointers club shone through at advanced level to win top spot, and there were also outstanding routines performed by Jemma Denman (8yrs) and Lauren Pettifar (14yrs).
Judge Adam Reynolds was very pleased with the quality of the competitors, and commented afterwards: “I can’t believe how well all the first-timers did. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of them in future!”

Flair 2009

Members of Springfit Gymnastics and Trampoline Club were invited to compete at the largest recreational gymnastics and trampoline competition in the UK last week.

Over a dozen clubs from the South East came together for the annual Flair invitational competition held at the Walton Xcel Leisure Centre, Surrey, and the local club walked away with many of the top honors. The Disney themed occasion was well received and provided spectators with entertaining routines, as well as the proud parents witnessing superb routines from their children, on trampolines and the gymnastics floor. The judges were impressed with the overall standard, and some impressive vaulting wowed the crowds.

In all, Springfit club took home 25 medals, including 8 golds!

The impressive Katie Pidgeon (12) took first place in both the highest levels of trampolining as well as gymnastics. There were also podium top-spots for young Lucy Fish (7), Abbie Clifton (11), Aylish Moore (8), Alex Alpe (15), Kayleigh Donovan (18) and a birthday gold for Holly Bird, who turned 15 just the day before.

Of the numerous second-place finishes, a special mention should go to the wonderful efforts of Chelsie Kilgannon (9), who did superbly in performing a flawless gymnastics routine and excellent vaults. Plus Lauren Monk (8) who shone on the trampoline in her age category.

The club is especially proud of Lucy Fish for earning the highest scoring floor routine and vault in her age category, taking Gold from 11 other eight year olds in her group, as well as Maxine Coldrey who also earned the highest floor score in her group of 16, only missing out to Kaitlyn for our sister club; Pointers.

TALENT SHINES THROUGH AT LOCAL TRAMPOLINE COMPETITION

The Saturn V Association showcased their latest trampoline competition held at The Sports Hall at Moor House School in Hurst Green on Saturday 27th June.
Member clubs from Caterham, Oxted, Horley, Warlingham, Selsdon and Coulsdon all entered children for the competition.

Parents and family members turned out on a hot day to show their support from the balcony of the Sports Centre as their children from age 6 to 17 put on a fine display in six different ability grades.
All competitors received a certificate of achievement for entering and medals were awarded at each level for high scorers.

There were plenty of entrants who had never done a competition before, and many of them were delighted to walk away with rewards for their endeavours. Among those who turned out for the first time, were gold medallist winners Amber Jackson (6) and Lucy Pidgeon (8), who clearly impressed the panel of judges with their routines.

There was also repeated success for some who won medals at the last event, including Liam Chennery (13), Katie Pidgeon (11), Emily Reeves (7), and Hollie Knight (11).
Hollie won Gold at Grade 8 in February, and matched her achievement in the next category up, taking away gold at Grade 9 this time round.

Saturn V holds Inter-club Floor and Vault competition

On Sunday 14th June at de Stafford Sports Centre, Caterham, Saturn V Association of Gymnastics and Trampoline clubs, held their first Floor and Vault Competition of 2009. Much improvement was shown in all gymnasts who performed to their best in both Floor and Vault, and impressed all friends and family who came to show their support.

The standard of competition entry was high and the gymnasts performed with enthusiastic competence. Medals were awarded in three categories, under 9’s, 10 years plus, and a new category for those who train more than once a week.

Saturn V Inter-Club Tumbling and Acrobatic Competition

The first competition of 2009 was held on Sunday 22nd March for Saturn V Association member clubs who met at Oakwood Sports Centre, home of Springfit Gymnastics and Trampoline Club, for a Tumbling and Acrobatic competition.
