Chris

Hi, I am Chris and anyone that knows me is aware of how much I love this sport.
I was a Gymnast for many years and had trained and competed abroad on all 6 pieces of mens gymnastics.
Even after retiring from competing I still love somersaulting my way round the Gym. My nickname tends to be “Sportachris” as I spend a lot of time walking around on my hands!
I joined Springfit gym club in 2007, as my 4 year old was starting to show that Gymnastics definitely runs in the family. Seeing the energy and enthusiasm of the coaches and potential of the club, I happily joined the team.
I am very confident, and work with a good team of coaches. I believe that with supportive parents the club will grow from strength to strength. Coaching has given me the energy back that I lost and the focus, vision and desire to do this full time.
I find teaching gymnastics very rewarding and satisfying and enjoy coaching all ages, from the younger new starters teaching the basic elements and discipline, to coaching the squad classes and elite gymnasts. I find my own experience in the sport very useful in coaching and developing appropriate strength and flexibility activities for the gymnasts. Working on strength and flexibility helps not just to improve their gymnastic skills, but helps with every day activities and life, and everyone still finds it a whole heap of fun!
It is very rewarding to hear so many positive responses from the gymnasts and their parents, and it’s great to see the children’s reactions when they tell you what they learnt and it gives them a bit of a buzz.

I enjoy teaching both boys and girls gymnastics in the gyms’ safe and friendly environment, and like setting pairs and trios acro routines as well as individual floor routines for displays and competitions.

But most importantly… at Springfit we have fun!
